They’re not just any kind of musician: they don’t play strings or bows but…. glasses. Their passion is to play the crystalphone, an ancient musical instrument made by many crystal glasses in a wooden resonator box. There are few who know how to play it with mastery. Also because the art, a hidden secret, has been handed down to only a few over the course of the centuries.
The art of playing glass, already noted in Persia in 9th century, arrived in Europe probably in the 15th century.
Today some musicians have revived and are exploring the musical possibilities of glass and the sound it makes for good health. It is highly poetic, relaxing, and even activates one’s fantasy. The most adaptable music is from the classical music repertoire. The sounds that it evokes are sweet and beneficial. Just listen with your heart and suddenly you’ll be transported back in time, when music was the art of the angels.
